Merry Christmas from Singapore!

Merry Christmas to our family & friends around the world!

A huge scripture message on the side of a shopping mall along Orchard Road.

More lights and lots of people along the street.

Back at our apartment we enjoyed some of the gifts and cards we received. Thank you!

"Oh come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant...
O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!"

"They will call him Immanuel"-- which means, "God with us."

Old address book...is now gone!

Today our apartment seemed rather quiet... Since my return from the states we have had a special friend from the Netherlands staying with us and he just left last night. I have been busy preparing meals and helping out with small projects while he was here and today I just took a good long break.

I decided it was time I organized my new address book so I spent several hours sorting through names and writing in the many I wanted to include. It was also rather sad because the old address book I have used for many many years just seemed to hold a lot of memories of names and people that are no longer living. In order to try and stay organized I really had to part with it and start a new list. It took me most of the afternoon but at last I have added all the names and addresses so now hopefully I can find your address easily when I find time to send you a letter. Even with all the electronic devices and computer advances we enjoy I still like to send "real" letters by post mail and it is even more enjoyable when I receive one in my mail box :).

I did throw away the old address book but I will always remember the names of those no longer added to my new book. Time has a way of moving on so be sure to take a minute or two today and enjoy some quiet time. It is refreshing!

A taxi ride down part of Orchard Road.

Christmas lights on Orchard Road

Tonight we walked down Orchard Road and enjoyed the many lights.
This is just a glimpse of what it actually looks like.

I hope you enjoyed our walk down Orchard Road.
Merry Christmas!!!

Home again!

It is so good to be home again! I am "enjoying" the effects of jet lag and of course spend many hours of the night awake. I am thankful I was able to go to the states and spend almost a month there with my mom and family. It is always hard to say goodbye and deal with the emotions of leaving loved ones once again. We will certainly miss my dad but the memories I have of him are precious and I hold them close to my heart.

This is my dad and me when I was in Glendive to visit him in Sept 2008. We had a very special time together.

Interesting Places Visited in Bali...

We saw many interesting places and of course the evidence of a Hindu culture is just about everywhere.

Gitgit Waterfall - notice the black and white sarong on the rock...supposed to confine the evil spirits to that area according to Hindu belief.

These stone statues are seen everywhere and are usually very ugly to scare off the evil spirits.
(I am so thankful for the presence of the Holy Spirit in me and the peace I have in Christ...no need to live in fear.)

Each city, town and village has a statue as you enter.

Suja and Larry

Gate to Taman Ayun Hindu temple.

Pura Luhur Batukaru one of the oldest Hindu temples in Bali and we were required to wear sarongs.

Lots of steps to climb...Pura Besakih the oldest and most sacred temple in Bali.

Water Palace area. Floating Pavillion at Taman Ujung East Bali.

Monkey Forest

Stone carved statues.

Village market buying a fan to stay "cool".

Wood carving of an eagle.

The Barong-play represents an eternal fight between good and evil spirits.
