HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELA!!!

23 February has come and gone now for several years but I will never forget the day you were born. What a blessing you are to us and we thank the Lord for you!

I know this is a photo from last year but I thought it was a fun one to post with you and Kadence.

Cambodia Garbage Dump Ministry

The following pictures were taken at the Garbage Dump School & Clinic that our friend Thearith has been faithfully serving at to help the people working and living at the dump. I had the privilege of helping out there for most of the day.

Looking at the dump and the homes right next to the school building.

This cute little guy is less than a week old and was born at the garbage dump clinic. If you wonder why the axe, knife and scissor are by his head ...so did I. The Khmer people believe it will keep him safe and protect him from harm. I am so thankful for God's protection and I pray that as the truth of the gospel is taught at the school many hearts would be drawn to our Lord and have eternal hope in Jesus.

We spent an hour visiting and encouraging this mother with her new baby boy. This is her fourth child, her other kids have been attending classes at the school.

Class time at the garbage dump center. The children have Khmer class, English class and Bible class.

Writing in his notebook.

I helped get gum out of this girls hair.

This little boy put gum in his hair too because he felt sad he had put it in the girls hair. His hair was short so it came out a bit easier.

Each day the children get a shower and they are so happy to get clean.

Some of the boys after getting a shower.

The girls with me after their shower and everyone's hair all combed nice. The white on their faces is baby powder. I think some of them enjoyed putting lots of powder on.

Praying before they are served lunch.
The lady sitting in the far back is the cook. She makes lunches each day for the children.

Enjoying a good lunch together.

The garbage dump center does have financial needs in order to continue doing this ministry. If you would like to be a part of this ministry please let me know and I will help you get in contact with Thearith.

Interesting things to see...

It seems that each time I visit Cambodia and spend time in Phnom Penh I am drawn to take pictures of the people. I took these as we were driving to the Media Center from our hotel. I know the quality isn't the best since I was shooting through the car window of a moving vehicle.

A beautiful arrangement of fruit for sale. The small watermelon were in season but I missed out on getting a picture of one of the piles of them along the street.

This is very typical to see on nearly every road. People walking...on motobikes...cars...cyclo...and tuk-tuks(not shown here)
Roadside sale of barbecued meat.

More dinner cooking...notice the chef standing in the water on the road.

A delicious assortment of meat.

A lady resting along the street. She is wearing a krama which is used by many of the workers.

A cyclo driver looking for a passenger.

Friends in Cambodia

While in Phnom Penh we spent one evening with our friends at their home. We always look forward to this special time with the You family. Larry was able to hold Rithia for just a few minutes while he encouraged her to share some of his pineapple with her.

Travel Time...

I haven't posted for a few days so decided I better update you before another week sneaks by.
Monday morning Larry and I are leaving for Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We will spend a week there helping at the Media Center and maybe some other projects too. It is always a special time to be there with the staff God has blessed us with. Thank you for praying for us during this time. I will have a travel laptop with me but...we will see if I can get connected.

I have been memorizing a verse every two weeks and it has been so good for me. Sometimes I think I just can't remember but as I commit these verses to the Lord and meditate and think of them throughout the day....guess what....I am keeping them in my heart!

Romans 15:4-6 is the scripture I have been working on. Verse 6 is inscribed in our wedding bands and has always been special to me.

"For everything that was written in former times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we may have hope. Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Thank you Jesus for your loving care each day even in the little things.

Be encouraged as you spend time with our Lord in the Word and in prayer.

Six Visitors!!!

This morning when I looked out our apartment window I noticed these six pigeons all perched there on the ledge. I have noticed a few at different times but not all of them at once. I guess they all decided to come visit and leave their mess behind. Fortunately after a nice rain most of the mess gets washed away. Now we just hope it rains today:)

Birthday Box for Kadence & his Mommy!

I finished wrapping birthday gifts for Kadence and his Mommy and we took them to the Singapore Post.
I of course had some great help getting the box taped up, so hopefully everything arrives ok.

Telling Grandma a story!

Kadence had a great time really "talking" to me today. He was laughing and telling me lots of stories...my only regret is I am not sure of all he had to say. You are my little buddy and I sure love you lots.

We have a small toy deer head that Kadence gave his grandpa for Christmas and every time I call him on Skype he asks me to see the deer. It is quite funny to watch him as he talks to the deer and his grandma.

Thanks for taking time to chat with me Angela. It is always so much fun for me. I know the time difference can make it difficult on some days.

Meetings near the beach

This was a busy week for us with meetings every day. The special part was we were with a great group of people and that was a blessing.

Time together in the Word.

Praying together.

Lunch together near the Pasir Ris Park beach.

Ready for a bike ride along the beach. I must say these rented bikes were in much need of repair or better yet of being replaced...but we had fun anyway.
We really do enjoy our friends from around South East Asia.

Grandpa's gift for Ellie

This morning we helped Ellie celebrate her 3rd Birthday through a Skype call. It was fun watching the excitement on her face when she opened her gift from Grandpa.
Sorry for the poor quality pictures.

Ellie with her new "truck"...every little girl needs a truck!
She was more interested in finding something small enough to fit in the seat to drive.
Then she had fun pushing it around.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIE!!!

Having Fun on Skype!!!

I sure enjoy the time I can spend on Skype with our kids and grandkids. I was having a visit with Ellie and Jennifer in these pictures but I also enjoy time with Angela/Joel/Kadence and Steven/Samantha/Cash. Maybe one day I will be able to snap a picture with them and show them too.

What do we have to eat...

I was having a hard time trying to figure out something to eat for our dinner. The problem was I really didn't want to go to the store so I had to use what I had handy... I decided to make some biscuits & gravy. The biscuits were really good and I thought I would share this old recipe with you.

Southern Gal Biscuits
2 c. flour, 2 T. sugar
, 4 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. shortening, 1 egg, 2/3 c. milk

Sift flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tarter into a bowl. Add the shortening to the flour mixture and blend together until of cornmeal consistency. Pour the milk into the flour mixture slowly. Add the egg. Stir to a stiff dough. Roll or pat to 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a 1 1/2 inch cutter. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 to 15 minutes.
