We had a great time today at a nearby hot springs. Some friends invited us to join them and we are sure glad we went along. We enjoyed a private little cabin with our own hot mineral water tub. I lasted about 5 minutes before I was about to faint from the heat. After we soaked in the hot mineral tub we went and had an hour long foot and back massage. It was so relaxing and a beautiful area to enjoy the day with special friends.
Yes, I spared you the pictures of us in the hot tub:)

Hard Work
I really enjoy the country sites near Chiang Mai and nearly everywhere you go you can see hard working farmers caring for their fields.

Foto Friday
This week I am using a favorite photo that I took this past week. My grandkids really like catching butterflies and I decided to join in on their fun...only I captured mine with a picture.
This bush has really fragrant blossoms and the butterflies were enjoying them for several days.

Roses from the market
We are still enjoying some beautiful roses that I got at the market last weekend. Can you believe I only paid $3 for three dozen roses? Unbelievable....but true!!! They are grown here in Northern Thailand and the markets are loaded with a wonderful selection of various flowers and so affordable.

Foto Friday ~ Breakfast
The Foto Friday challenge today was breakfast and my usual breakfast consists of a bowl of oatmeal but today I had a cinnamon roll. I had made several pans of cinnamon rolls for a staff meeting last week and froze some. This morning I decided to enjoy it with a cup of hot chocolate. And yes, that is butter melting on the top of it!!!
This was my bowl of oatmeal from the day before ... just so you know I do eat healthy sometimes:)

Eating adventure
We had lunch at a restaurant that serves Northeast Thai food. I believe referred to as Isan style food. We ordered quite an assortment and I agreed I would like to order some fish.
In Asia the fish is usually served with the head so that didn't surprise me but the middle section did. My first time to see the "whole fish" served and I might add eaten too, but not by me. I only ate the white meat part.
It was an eating adventure and the other dishes were good but did have some unusual items in them too. I really can't be sure what though.
Just in case that wasn't clear enough for you to see...here is a nice close-up shot of the "whole fish".
This makes for easey fixing, no need to gut the fish.....yikes!

Happy 4th of July!!!
Happy 4th of July !!!
On one of my trips to the states I saw these mints in these wonderful bright red, white and blue flag packets at a Wendy's restaurant. I carefully saved a few and my daughter and her friend decided to also save some for me and by the time we left the restaurant we had a nice bundle of mints.
I carried these little flag packets back with me to Asia and saved them until today and now we are enjoying them this 4th of July.

I am proud to be an American and these little flag packets remind me of my country today.

Baking lesson...
I did some baking today with some young ladies and it was a lot of fun. They speak only a little English and I speak no Thai so it was an interesting time. But it was worth it as the cookies turned out really nice. We packaged them in ziplock bags and froze them until Sunday when we will share them after the service.
Foto Friday ~ Clouds
The first picture was taken while we were driving so is not the greatest but I really liked the formation of these clouds over the rice fields. If only that tree wasn't blurred across it:)
It began to rain soon after this picture was taken.
This is taken from a roof top restaurant in Chiang Mai. I liked the way the mountain is circled in the clouds.
