Village school

When we arrived at the school to have the English lessons with the children this is what we saw.....

by the way the new blue roof was just finished and they really appreciated the funding that was given for it (thank you to the family that donated)!!!!

They were having a special activity to promote a drug free environment in the school and the village. Some of the leaders of the village were there and shared some messages with the kids and then we all walked about a half mile to the village center.

The kids on the right side are the ones I do the English lessons with...they are pretty cute.

Walking along the road to the village there were some interesting things to look at too......

This is at the village and we all posed for a picture again...

On the walk back to the school we talked about things we saw...it was a fun morning and a neat way for the school to build a good relationship with the village people too.

Smells so nice.....

Enjoying the wonderful aroma of these flowers from a bush in our yard. The butterflies are also enjoying them.

Today I had a butterfly come to me and land on my arm for a short time. Too bad my camera was inside the house.

"Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the Lord."

Roadside Market

On our drive back to Chiang Mai we stopped at a roadside market that was quite large even though it is hard to tell the size from these pictures. This is only a short portion of it seen here.

This is mushroom season and there were several different kinds to choose from.

The remaining items below are all things you could buy many local people find them quite appetizing :)....

would you like to try some now!!!

Nice and crunchy!!!

The selection just continued to get better!!!

These wonderful little guys were still pretty busy crawling in and out of the holes!!!

No more "croaking" going on here:)....but lots of sizzling over hot burning coals!!!

I think you get the idea....maybe clearer than you really cared for!!!

I do want you to know I did buy a few things but not one of the items shown above...

I picked out some nice cucumbers and green peppers.

I know you are probably disappointed I didn't try anything but if you come to visit maybe we can go back and you can try some:)!!!!!

Fai's Elephant Hospital

Last Sunday on Father's Day we took a drive to Lampang and on the way we stopped to see this elephant hospital. There is also an area where you can watch the elephant shows but..

we just went to see the elephants in the "hospital".

Motala is the elephant in the pictures I took... the others were not where I could get a clear picture.

This is Motala standing on her three legs.

The workers gave her some lunch to eat while we were watching her.

This is what the prosthetic foot looks like that she can use on her leg....she walked back and forth in this area without it though.

in our neighborhood...

I meant to post this several weeks ago and didn't get it done but here it is a bit late.

This group of Novice monks walked through our neighborhood and stopped at many houses to receive gifts during Songkran Festival.

When I had gone for my walk earlier in the morning the people were busy setting up small tables with various items to give the young monks. The first picture is across from our house at our neighbor Nic. You can just see our fence and part of the red roof of our house behind the boys.

Next year I will be prepared and hopefully I can give them some spiritual literature to read that will have eternal benefits Lord willing.

Here they were walking around the corner to the neighbors behind our house.

Here they are at the neighbors behind our house.

This picture is of a young girl that we see each time we take visitors to the nearby mountain where there is a large temple. She has grown and changed a bit from 2 years ago when I first took a picture of her. She sits at the base of the stairs dressed in her tribal dress and waits for people to take her picture and then asks for money. The parent sits back a way and watches her work....rather sad to see. I pray one day she will hear and know the Truth.
